Colour & Space is an online gallery that provides a platform for bespoke curated exhibitions in locations throughout Cornwall and the South West. We exhibit a range of paintings and limited edition prints from established and emerging artists that specialise in illustration and printmaking. Each exhibition will display a collection of linocuts, etchings, screenprints and paintings from the website and will promote enjoying affordable art in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Colour & Space is owned and run by partners Rebecca Darch and Gareth Ellis who grew up in Cornwall and share a love of the outdoors and getting involved in all sorts of creative projects. Rebecca has been involved within the art sector for over 10 years and has been painting for most of her life. She studied Art Practice at Glamorgan University 2004-2007 and it is from here that her interest in curation and exhibition design began to develop and lead her to study her Masters in Curatorial Practice at Falmouth University, graduating in 2009. From here Rebecca has worked in galleries and arts organisations across Cornwall and the South West and gained invaluable experience along the way.
Gareth Ellis works as a qualified architect, he studied for his BA in Architecture & Planning at University of the West of England and his MA in Architecture at the University of Bath. He has always had a creative side and over the last few years has taken up printmaking, particularly screen printing. He enjoys capturing the different landscapes around Cornwall and simplifying the shapes and colours that he sees to make beautiful pieces of art for everyone to enjoy.
Rebecca and Gareth moved to Bath in 2013 both furthering their careers and enjoying a different lifestyle. Although they loved their time there they knew the lure of Cornwall and their families was too great and in 2018 returned to their roots and Rebecca began setting up Colour & Space with the help of Gareth. Since then Colour & Space has successfully launched the website and has exhibited at various venues including Truro Home & Lifestyle Show, Breeze Art & Makers Fair and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.
