Bold & Noble
Bold & Noble
Jane and David met at Northumbria University where they were both studying Graphic Design. They graduated in 1998 and moved to London where David worked in publishing, doing illustration and design for book covers and Jane won a D&AD Student award for branding and worked in a design consultancy creating websites, branding and brochures. In 2008 following the birth of their son they started working together as Bold & Noble.
Quite literally working off their kitchen table they began creating their vision of beautifully-made screen prints that people would love.So while Granny babysat, they both worked nights on their first collection—which keeps on growing today.
Jane works on designs for the new collections and looks after the nationwide stockists and accounts which includes Colour & Space. She traces her passion for design back to her grandpa’s beautiful advertising portfolio which inspired her to follow in his footsteps and after a decade working for consultancies in London, she’s as fired-up and optimistic about design as ever. When she’s not in the studio, you’ll probably find Jane digging in the garden or rummaging at a flea market. David is an industrious designer and illustrator, and he’s worked for the most prestigious publishing houses. His book covers are always in demand, and his hands are always covered in ink. He says his granny started it, by keeping him supplied with endless rolls of wallpaper for doodling. Perhaps she had a pact with Jane’s grandpa! David is also a serious distance runner—the type who does ten miles before breakfast and supper—and he’s represented England.
