The lighthouse at Godrevy is a prominent feature at the northern end of St Ives Bay. It stands remote on its small island. Its picturesque image masks its initial purpose, to guard a treacherous section of the Cornish north coast. This small size print presents a view of the lighthouse at sunset from the rocks of the mainland. Gulls are pictured flying overhead.
Gareth Ellis lives and works in Cornwall with his prints depicting his favourite subjects; Cornwall and the sea. Gareth enjoys the challenge of simplifying Cornish landscapes and coastal scenes into basic forms and depicting light and shade with minimal print layers. The majority of his work is developed from sketches and drawings taken from around Cornwall and then transferred into hand pulled screen prints or digital prints.
